Home Consumption and Homemade Food Act

Take The Cake operates as a business under the Home Consumption and Homemade Food Act. Utah passed the Home Consumption and Homemade Food Act in 2018 which opened the doors for many homemade food businesses, like myself, to open. This act, termed the Food Freedom Act, enables homemade food production without the stricter regulations that come with a Cottage Food License or a Commercial License. Businesses that operate under the Food Freedom Act do so without State or Local inspections. If you choose to purchase from Take The Cake, you do so at your own risk. However, Take The Cake strives to maintain a clean working environment and has a separate area in the home where your cakes are stored, I also have a Food Handlers Permit.
